Multi television
It may come as a surprise, but before the arrival of Sky TV, Kinsale’s television channel choice was helped by a deflector system. Unfortunately, it was unlicensed and drew negative attention from the Minister for Communications at the time, one Ray Burke. However, without it, we would have been left with only two channels. I think of the late Michael Foran, who was a great champion for the service.
Note the Kinsale GAA football team in 1986, who incidentally defeated Crosshaven in the league.
Proposed pedestrian area outside the Courthouse
In 1986, the idea of pedestrianising the area outside the Courthouse was rejected. Forty years on, maybe it is something that should be revisited?
Finally, a couple of pub quiz specialists, including the late Tim O’Flynn, who sadly passed away last year. In addition to being a smart guy on the quiz circuit, Tim was also a good man with an angling rod.
