On Wednesday last, all five 3rd classes from the primary schools in the Kinsale area came together to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge at Kinsale Library. The event was organised by the Kinsale Cultural and Heritage Society and generously sponsored by the First South Credit Union.

Well-known Seanchaí Paddy O’Brien entertained the children with his unique storytelling style. In addition, the children showcased their own party pieces As Gaeilge, adding a lively and personal touch to the celebration.
In expressing gratitude, Chairperson of the Society, JJ Hurley, thanked the students and teachers for their enthusiastic participation and acknowledged the support of the library staff. He highlighted that without the backing of the First South Credit Union, it would not have been possible to donate Irish reading material to each school. JJ also paid a special tribute to Paddy O’Brien, noting that his contribution was essential in making the event a success and in promoting the Irish language among the younger generation.
